What You’ll Need

Planning a trip to Kenya? Here’s what you’ll need to make your journey smooth and stress-free:

Valid Passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your departure date and has at least two blank pages for entry stamps.

Visa: Most travelers need a visa to enter Kenya. You can apply for an eVisa online, at a Kenyan embassy, or get it on arrival. Check the requirements for your nationality, as some countries are visa-exempt.

Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate: Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for travelers arriving from certain countries or regions. It’s also recommended to stay updated on other vaccinations, such as hepatitis A, typhoid, and tetanus.

Travel Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance is essential. Ensure it covers health, accidents, theft, and emergency evacuations, as medical services can be costly in some areas.

Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Kenya’s climate varies, so pack according to the season and region. Lightweight clothing is ideal for warmer areas, but bring layers if you’re visiting higher elevations like Nairobi or the Maasai Mara, where temperatures can be cooler.

Power Adapter: Kenya uses a Type G plug (the same as the UK). Bring an adapter if your devices use a different plug type.

Insect Repellent and Sun Protection: Mosquito-borne illnesses can be a concern, so pack insect repellent with DEET and wear long sleeves in the evenings. Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are also recommended to protect against the strong equatorial sun.

A Sense of Adventure: Kenya offers a rich array of landscapes, wildlife, and cultures. Bring a curious spirit, respect for local customs, and a willingness to explore!

“The guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to understand. He had a genuine interest and was service-minded in every way. He could tell us a lot about the animals on the safari we participated in at Masai Mara. I can highly recommend him with the highest rating.”
